BIOGRAPHY
Gaman Ensemble was born in 2019 as a result of the meeting of these four young Spanish saxophonists in Paris. The love for chamber music has been the common essence among its members, making it inevitable for them to gain access, with a unanimous first prize, to the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris. That same year they began their Master's studies in Chamber Music with David Walter.
Gaman Ensemble is characterized by its strong personality, always trying to maintain an attitude of continuous effort to excel despite the difficulties. The Japanese term of the same name, originating from Zen Buddhism, symbolizes the determination to face life's obstacles, to persist in trying with patience even in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges. Taking innovation as its main pillar, they share the ideal of exciting their audience by bringing them a wide range of sensations and emotions, while developing the repertoire of this versatile formation. Their desire to update the musical panorama involves collaboration with contemporary composers, such as Félix Ibarrondo, Fuminori Tanada, David Soley, Thierry Escaich or Orlando Bass.
They are actively involved in concerts, which are constantly progressing, performing regularly in international territory. Their participation in Radio France, the European Festival of Young Talents, the Breuillet Young Soloists Festival, the Georges Pompidou National Centre for Art and Culture in Paris and the Odéon in Tremblay-en-France have been particularly highlighted by both the public and critics. They also won third prize and the prize for the best interpretation of a piece by a Spanish composer at the 9th International Competition “Antón García Abril” in 2021.
Gaman Ensemble is the face of JLV Sound and Henri Selmer Paris. Its members are: Jesús Reneses (soprano saxophone), Carlos Zaragoza (alto saxophone), Daniel Sánchez (tenor saxophone) and Luis María González (baritone saxophone).
